What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to The Standardx's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee, referred to as the 'Owner,' is responsible for the costs associated with accessing the Property Management System (PMS) from their facilities. This includes the installation and ongoing expenses for all necessary communications infrastructure. The franchisee is also responsible for implementing and maintaining any security measures they deem necessary for the communication process.
This means that a prospective The Standardx franchisee will need to factor in the costs of internet connectivity, hardware, software, and security systems required to access and use the Property Management System. These costs are in addition to the franchise fees and other operating expenses. It is important for franchisees to budget accordingly and ensure they have a reliable and secure connection to the PMS.
The Standardx also disclaims any responsibility for problems arising from the franchisee's choice of communications service provider or any issues related to the franchisee's connectivity or data transmission to and from the facility. This places the onus on the franchisee to select a reliable provider and maintain a stable connection. Franchisees should carefully consider their options and ensure they have adequate support in place to address any connectivity issues that may arise.
Furthermore, the franchisee's ability to access their data within the Property Management System may be affected by issues with their internet or private network provider, as well as any scheduled maintenance outages. The Standardx will provide two weeks' advance notice for scheduled maintenance, but emergency maintenance may occur with prompt notice. Franchisees should plan for potential disruptions and ensure they have backup systems in place to minimize any impact on their operations.
