What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to The Standardx's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchisee (referred to as 'Owner' in this context) is responsible for the costs associated with accessing the Property Management System. Specifically, the franchisee must cover the expenses for installing all communications infrastructure needed to access the system from their facilities. This includes implementing and maintaining any security measures deemed necessary for the communication process.
This means that a prospective The Standardx franchisee will need to budget for the initial setup and ongoing maintenance of internet connectivity and any related hardware or software required to link their hotel to The Standardx's Property Management System. These costs are separate from any fees paid to The Standardx for the use of the system itself. The franchisee also bears the risk of any connectivity or data transmission issues arising from their choice of communication service provider.
The Standardx expressly disclaims any responsibility for problems resulting from the franchisee's choice of a communications service provider or any issues directly related to the franchisee's connectivity or data transmission to and from the facility. This places the onus on the franchisee to ensure reliable and secure communication lines are in place. Furthermore, the franchisee acknowledges that their ability to access data may be adversely affected by problems with their internet or private network provider connectivity, as well as any scheduled maintenance outages.
