If The Standardx franchisee requests additional guidance or training from Hyatt, what are the franchisee's obligations?

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

If Franchisee requests, and Hyatt agrees to provide, additional or special guidance, assistance, or training, Franchisee agrees to pay Hyatt's then applicable charges and travel and living expenses.

Any specific training, guidance or assistance that Hyatt provides does not create an obligation (whether by course of dealing or otherwise) to continue providing that specific training, guidance or assistance, all of which Hyatt may periodically modify.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to The Standardx's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee requests additional guidance, assistance, or training from Hyatt and Hyatt agrees to provide it, the franchisee must pay Hyatt's then-applicable charges, as well as cover travel and living expenses incurred by Hyatt. This applies to guidance regarding the Hotel's operation, System Standards, and advertising and marketing materials. Hyatt retains the right to modify or discontinue providing such specific training, guidance, or assistance at any time.

This means that while Hyatt may offer support beyond the standard training programs, it comes at an additional cost to the franchisee. The franchisee needs to factor in these potential expenses when budgeting for ongoing support and development. It is important to note that Hyatt is not obligated to continue providing any specific additional support, so franchisees should not rely on long-term availability of such services.

This arrangement is fairly typical in franchising, where franchisors often provide initial training and ongoing support, but may charge extra for specialized or additional assistance. Franchisees should carefully evaluate their needs for ongoing support and factor in the potential costs when making their investment decision. Understanding the scope and cost of additional support is crucial for managing expenses and ensuring the successful operation of The Standardx franchise.
