The development of all full service Hyatt-branded hotels must comply with the Hyatt-established Design and Construction Standards. Accordingly, each franchisee of a full service Hyatt-branded hotel is required to design, build, equip, furnish, and decorate the Hotel in conformity with the Design and Construction Standards and consistent with the Preliminary Area Program, subject to any modifications to the Preliminary Area Program required by or approved by Hyatt in writing. All capitalized terms not defined herein shall have the meaning set forth in the Franchise Agreement.

According to The Standardx's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the development of all full-service Hyatt-branded hotels must adhere to Hyatt's established Design and Construction Standards. These standards dictate how each franchisee of a full-service Hyatt-branded hotel is required to design, build, equip, furnish, and decorate their hotel. These Design and Construction Standards set a specific level of construction, performance, fit, finish, and appearance for all materials and equipment installed in a The Standardx hotel. While products and materials from other manufacturers that meet or exceed these criteria may be considered, any deviations must be reviewed and verified in writing by the franchisee's architect. The architect must confirm to Hyatt that the proposed deviations meet or exceed the standards set forth in the Design and Construction Standards. The Project Manager then forwards this information to Hyatt for final review and consideration.
The Standardx may participate in all phases of the hotel design process to ensure full implementation of the Design and Construction Standards. This includes providing reviews, recommendations, comments, and approvals to the consultants involved. Franchisees are also required to submit deliverables for approval by The Standardx, including conceptual designs and planning exercises, according to a mutually agreed schedule. These submissions must be in English, and The Standardx will issue a formal review before the franchisee can proceed to the next step. Ultimately, the franchisee must obtain a written certificate from their architect, engineer, or consultant, confirming that the hotel conforms to all applicable legal requirements, including those related to public accommodations for people with disabilities.
