What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to The Standardx's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Franchise Agreement does not contain any restrictions regarding the customers to whom a franchisee may provide goods and services. However, The Standardx does place restrictions on what the franchisee may sell.
The Standardx requires franchisees to offer all products and services that The Standardx periodically authorizes for the hotel, including food and beverage operations. These offerings must comply with all applicable laws and meet The Standardx's quality standards. The Standardx retains the right to change these products and services at any time, without limitation. Franchisees are prohibited from selling any products or performing any services that The Standardx has not authorized.
Furthermore, if the hotel is part of a mixed-use site, certain types of businesses, such as pawnshops, check-cashing businesses, gentlemen's clubs, pornography retailers, package liquor stores, marijuana dispensaries, or gambling businesses, are restricted. Specifically, these businesses cannot operate on the mixed-use site without The Standardx's prior written consent. Additionally, bars, lounges, clubs, or similar establishments that derive more than 50% of their revenue from alcohol sales and are situated within 300 feet of the hotel's interior footprint also require The Standardx's prior written consent.
