What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to The Standardx's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the definition of "AOP Term" can be found in Exhibit B-2 to the Brand Hotel Franchise Agreement. Additionally, Exhibit A to the Brand Hotel Franchise Agreement also references that the definition of "AOP Term" has the meaning set forth in Exhibit B-2.
The "AOP Term" is relevant because it defines the period during which the franchisee has certain rights within their Area of Protection. Specifically, during the AOP Term, The Standardx agrees not to open or authorize other parties to open other Brand Hotels within the franchisee's Area of Protection, with a notable exception for acquisitions of hotel groups.
Understanding the AOP Term is crucial for prospective franchisees as it directly impacts their territorial protection and potential competition from other The Standardx locations. Franchisees should carefully review Exhibit B-2 to fully understand the duration and specific conditions of the AOP Term, as well as the exceptions that could allow The Standardx to authorize competing locations within their Area of Protection.
