What fees are associated with The Standardx pre-opening training provided on-site at the hotel?

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

  • (d) Pre-Opening Training.

Hyatt will provide pre-opening training to the Hotel staff on the System Standards and related issues in connection with the Hotel's opening in affiliation with the Proprietary Marks.

Hyatt may conduct this training via remote learning, in one or more visits to the Hotel, or both, as Hyatt determines in its sole option.

Franchisee must pay Hyatt's then current fee and the trainers' travel and living expenses associated with any training that Hyatt provides on-site at the Hotel.

If Hyatt provides on-site training, the trainers will arrive at or before the Hotel's opening in affiliation with the Proprietary Marks and stay for the period that Hyatt specifies.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to The Standardx's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if Hyatt provides pre-opening training on-site at the hotel, the franchisee is responsible for paying Hyatt's current fee for the training. Additionally, the franchisee must cover the travel and living expenses of the trainers during their time at the hotel. Hyatt determines whether the training is conducted via remote learning, on-site visits, or a combination of both. If on-site training is provided, the trainers will arrive at or before the hotel's opening and stay for a duration specified by Hyatt.

This means that prospective The Standardx franchisees need to budget not only for the direct training fees charged by Hyatt but also for the indirect costs associated with accommodating the trainers. These indirect costs can include lodging, meals, and other incidental expenses incurred during the training period. The exact amount of these expenses will depend on the duration of the training, the number of trainers involved, and the local cost of living.

It is important for franchisees to clarify with Hyatt what the 'then current fee' is for the pre-opening training and to get an estimate of the travel and living expenses for the trainers. This will allow for a more accurate financial projection for the initial investment required to open a The Standardx franchise. Franchisees should also inquire about the typical duration of on-site training to better estimate the associated costs.
