What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Surestay Hotel By Best Western Franchise Disclosure Document, the Rider to the franchise agreement becomes effective as of the Effective Date stated in the Franchise Agreement. The Rider is signed concurrently with the Franchise Agreement and is annexed to it, forming an integral part of the agreement.
This means that the terms and conditions outlined in the Rider, which may include state-specific modifications or additions to the standard Franchise Agreement, come into force on the same date that the main Franchise Agreement becomes effective. For a prospective franchisee, this signifies that they must carefully review both the Franchise Agreement and the Rider to understand their rights and obligations fully from the outset of the franchise relationship.
The Riders included in the FDD are specific to certain states such as Washington, New York, Minnesota, Maryland, and Illinois. These riders address specific legal requirements or clarifications pertinent to franchising within those states. Therefore, the Effective Date ties the implementation of these state-specific provisions directly to the commencement of the overall Franchise Agreement, ensuring compliance from day one.
