Answer from 2025 FDD Document

We may modify specifications for, and components of, the Computer System.

Our modification of specifications for the Computer System, and other technological developments or events, might require you to purchase, lease, or license new or modified computer hardware or software and to obtain service and support for the Computer System.

You agree to incur the costs of obtaining the computer hardware and software comprising the Computer System (or additions and modifications) and required service or support, regardless of whether those costs are fully amortizable over this Agreement's remaining term.

We have no obligation to reimburse you for any Computer System costs.

Within 60 days after we advise you of changes to the Computer System, you agree to implement such changes, and if necessary, procure any additional equipment, components, hardware, or software we designate.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Sonesta Simply Suites' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are responsible for all costs associated with the Computer System and Sonesta Simply Suites has no obligation to reimburse franchisees for these expenses. This includes the initial purchase, any modifications or upgrades, and ongoing service and support.

Sonesta Simply Suites may modify the specifications for the Computer System, potentially requiring franchisees to purchase, lease, or license new or modified hardware or software. Franchisees must implement these changes within 60 days of being advised by Sonesta Simply Suites. Franchisees are also responsible for ensuring their Computer System meets brand standards and functions properly at all times.

Franchisees are solely responsible for the acquisition, operation, maintenance, and upgrading of the Computer System, as well as ensuring it interfaces correctly with Sonesta Simply Suites' and third-party systems. They bear all consequences if the Computer System is not properly maintained. This means that franchisees must budget not only for the initial setup but also for continuous maintenance, upgrades, and potential replacements of hardware and software to remain compliant with Sonesta Simply Suites' standards.

This arrangement is typical in many franchise systems, where franchisees bear the costs of technology infrastructure. However, it's crucial for prospective Sonesta Simply Suites franchisees to understand the potential financial burden and factor it into their investment calculations, as these costs can be significant and are non-reimbursable.
