What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Sonesta Select Sonesta Essential's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must have at least one hotel representative complete the initial training program. The fee for the initial training program is $1,500, and it is conducted virtually unless otherwise determined by Sonesta Select Sonesta Essential. If the training is conducted in person, franchisees must also reimburse Sonesta Select Sonesta Essential for the travel, meals, and lodging expenses of their personnel, which are estimated to be up to $2,500. These costs are due when billed and are non-refundable. Franchisees are also estimated to pay between $1,000 and $2,000 for accommodations and wages for their employee during the initial training program.
These initial training expenses are part of the broader estimated initial investment for a Sonesta Select Sonesta Essential franchise. For a Sonesta Select franchise, the initial brand training fee and reimbursement of expenses are estimated to be between $1,500 and $4,000. For a Sonesta Essential franchise, the initial brand training fee and reimbursement of expenses are also estimated to be between $1,500 and $4,000. These fees are paid as a lump sum upon signing the Franchise Agreement.
Prospective franchisees should note that while the initial training fee itself is fixed at $1,500, the potential for additional expenses related to in-person training (up to $2,500 for travel, meals, and lodging, plus $1,000 to $2,000 for employee accommodations and wages) could significantly increase the overall cost of training. As the FDD states that all fees payable to Sonesta Select Sonesta Essential are non-refundable, franchisees should carefully consider these costs when budgeting for their initial investment.
