You (or your Principal) may request additional training at the end of the initial brand training program, to be provided at our then-current fees if your Hotel Representative does not feel sufficiently trained in the operation of a Brand Hotel. We and you will jointly determine the duration of this additional training. However, if your Hotel Representative completes our initial brand training program to our satisfaction and you have not expressly informed us in writing at the end of that program that your Hotel Representative does not feel sufficiently trained in the operation of a Brand Hotel, then your Hotel Representative will be deemed to have been trained sufficiently to operate a Brand Hotel.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Sonesta Select Sonesta Essential's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the duration of any additional training requested by the franchisee (or their Principal) after the initial brand training program is jointly determined by Sonesta Select Sonesta Essential and the franchisee. This additional training is available if the Hotel Representative does not feel adequately trained in operating a Brand Hotel.
However, there are conditions to this. If the Hotel Representative completes the initial brand training program to Sonesta Select Sonesta Essential's satisfaction, and the franchisee does not inform Sonesta Select Sonesta Essential in writing that the Hotel Representative feels insufficiently trained, the Hotel Representative will be considered sufficiently trained to operate a Brand Hotel. This implies that the franchisee must proactively communicate any concerns about the training's adequacy at the end of the initial program to be eligible for jointly determined additional training.
It's important to note that this additional training comes at a cost. The franchisee will be responsible for Sonesta Select Sonesta Essential's then-current fees for the extra training. These fees are currently $2,000 per day plus travel costs for in-person, on-site training, or $200 per hour for virtual training, and are subject to Fee Adjustments. This financial aspect should be carefully considered when deciding whether to request additional training.
