Under what conditions might Remax require a franchisee or their principal owners to complete additional courses as part of the renewal process?

Remax Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

In addition, prior to renewal of the Franchise, you or one of your principal Owners may be required to complete one or more of the following courses at your expense (including the cost of the course and all travel, meal, lodging, and entertainment expenses): (i) Complete Agent Development, or such other agent development or recruiting program that we may designate; (ii) re-take the Initial Education Program; and/or (iii) take such other course(s) as we may deem necessary. In some instances, REMAX Regional may require additional education during the term of the Agreement or even after renewal (including the cost of the course and all travel, meal, lodging, and entertainment expenses). Alternatively, REMAX Regional may accept evidence that you have satisfied requirements equivalent to such courses or education.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Remax's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, prior to renewal of the franchise agreement, Remax may require the franchisee or one of their principal owners to complete additional training courses at the franchisee's expense. These expenses include the cost of the course itself, in addition to all travel, meal, lodging, and entertainment expenses incurred while attending the training.

The specific courses that Remax may require include: Complete Agent Development, Recruiting 101, or another agent development or recruiting program that Remax designates. Remax may also require the franchisee to retake the Initial Education Program, or to take other courses that Remax deems necessary.

However, Remax may accept evidence that the franchisee has already satisfied requirements equivalent to these courses or education. Remax Regional also retains the right to mandate additional education during the term of the agreement or even after renewal, with the franchisee bearing all associated costs.
