What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Remax's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a contractor must obtain prior written approval from the Broker before hiring a personal assistant. This condition applies to any licensed or unlicensed personal assistant or any licensed person who is not affiliated with the Broker. The contractor also cannot hold or sponsor the license of any real estate broker or salesperson without the Broker's approval.
If the Broker provides written approval for hiring a personal assistant, the Remax contractor is then required to maintain insurance policies and coverage as mandated by law. This includes, but is not limited to, workers' compensation insurance for the contractor's employees.
This requirement ensures that Remax maintains control over who is associated with their brand and that all legal and insurance obligations are met when contractors employ additional staff. It also protects the Broker from potential liabilities related to unlicensed or unapproved staff working under the Remax name.
