What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Remax's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Remax is not responsible for any interruptions, service or performance failures, delays, or other problems that may arise from the customer's use of their own equipment. The franchisee is solely responsible for procuring and maintaining the network connections, hardware, and all other equipment required for the operation of the software. This equipment is collectively referred to as "Equipment" in the FDD.

This means that if a Remax franchisee experiences issues with their computer, internet connection, or other hardware that affects their ability to use Remax's software or online services, Remax is not obligated to provide support or compensation for those issues. The franchisee bears the full responsibility for ensuring their equipment is functioning correctly and is compatible with Remax's systems. This includes all costs associated with acquiring, maintaining, and repairing the necessary equipment.

This allocation of responsibility is fairly standard in franchising, as it allows Remax to focus on maintaining its software and systems without being burdened by the variability and potential issues arising from franchisees using a wide range of different hardware and internet service providers. However, it also places a significant responsibility on the franchisee to ensure they have reliable and compatible equipment to operate their Remax business effectively. A prospective franchisee should carefully consider these equipment requirements and associated costs when evaluating the Remax franchise opportunity.
