According to Remax's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a renewal fee is payable at least 90 days prior to the expiration of the current franchise agreement. The amount of the renewal fee varies depending on whether the franchise is a residential or commercial RE/MAX franchise. For residential franchises, the fee also depends on whether the location is in a high-density or low-density area.
For a residential Remax franchise in a high-density area, the renewal fee is $12,500, but it increases to $14,000 if the franchisee chooses to pay in 12 equal monthly installments. For a residential franchise in a low-density area, the renewal fee is $6,000, or $7,000 if paid in 12 monthly installments. Commercial Remax franchises have a renewal fee of $9,000, which increases to $10,250 if paid in 12 monthly installments.
If a Remax franchisee chooses to pay the renewal fee in 12 equal installments, the first installment is due at least 90 days before the expiration of the Franchise Agreement, with the remaining installments due monthly thereafter. Regardless of the payment plan, the franchisee must also execute the current form of franchise agreement, including the renewal addendum and any supplemental agreements, at least 90 days before the expiration of the current agreement. This new agreement takes effect the day after the previous Franchise Agreement expires.
