What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Remax's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, an 'Authorized User' is any individual the customer (franchisee) permits to access and use the Offerings as outlined in the franchise agreement and applicable product schedules. The franchisee is responsible for all use of the Offerings by these Authorized Users. Each Authorized User is identified by unique User IDs and access credentials, which cannot be shared or used by more than one person simultaneously.
This means that as a Remax franchisee, you have the authority to grant access to the software and platforms to individuals you deem necessary for your business operations, such as real estate agents or administrative staff. However, you are accountable for ensuring that these users comply with the terms of the franchise agreement and protect their access credentials.
The restriction on sharing User IDs is a standard security measure to prevent unauthorized access and maintain accountability. It is crucial for Remax franchisees to implement internal policies and training to ensure that all Authorized Users understand their responsibilities and adhere to these security protocols. Failure to properly manage user access could lead to breaches of data security, for which the franchisee would be held responsible, as highlighted in the section regarding antivirus protection and data breach notification.
