Remax Franchise · 2025 FDDAnswer from 2025 FDD Document
You may, at your option, renew your franchise relationship for an additional period if you meet the following conditions:
(6) You have given us written notice of your election to renew your franchise relationship not less than 6 months nor more than 12 months prior to the end of the Term.
If you fail to provide notice of your intentions regarding renewal within such time period, we will deem your failure to notify us as your decision not to renew.
In such case, you understand and agree that the Franchise shall expire at the end of the Term.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Remax's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must provide written notice of their election to renew their franchise relationship not less than 6 months nor more than 12 months prior to the end of the current franchise term. If the franchisee fails to provide notice of their intentions regarding renewal within this timeframe, Remax will consider it a decision not to renew the franchise agreement.
This requirement is a critical aspect of the franchise agreement, as a failure to provide timely and accurate notice is considered a material default. This means Remax has the right to enforce its rights under the agreement if the franchisee misses the notification window. The franchise will expire at the end of the term if proper notice is not given.
For a prospective Remax franchisee, it is essential to mark the notification deadline on a calendar and ensure compliance with this requirement. The franchisee should also be aware of the other conditions that must be met to qualify for renewal, such as compliance with the terms of the agreement, diligent efforts to develop the office, and meeting the then-current standards for new franchisees. Meeting these conditions, along with providing timely notice, is crucial for a smooth renewal process.
