Is a designated point-of-sale (POS) system required for a My Salon Suite franchise?

rinters and other peripheral hardware/devices; and (v) equipment necessary to maintain a physical, electronic, or other security system for the Approved Location and Franchised Business that we designate (collectively, the "Computer System"). We also require you to use our designated point-of-sale system in connection with the Computer System and Franchised Business (the "POS System"), as well as the type of tangible media and/or database structure to use part of the Computer System (Section 12.F. of the Franchise Agreement).
If you already have computer hardware and/or software that meets our then-current standards for a Computer System and/or POS System, then you may use these items in connection with your Franchised Business provided you obtain our approval. We estimate the costs to purchase our current Computer System to be between $0 and $2,000. What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to My Salon Suite's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to use a designated point-of-sale (POS) system in connection with their Computer System and Franchised Business. The franchisor also specifies the types of tangible media and database structure to be used as part of the Computer System.
The FDD states that if a franchisee already possesses computer hardware and/or software that meets My Salon Suite's current standards for a Computer System and/or POS System, they may use these items, provided they obtain approval from the franchisor. The estimated cost to purchase the required Computer System ranges from $0 to $2,000.
My Salon Suite franchisees are responsible for maintaining their Computer System in good repair and must install any additions, changes, modifications, substitutions, and/or replacements to the Computer System or POS System as directed by the franchisor in writing. Franchisees should anticipate spending approximately $500 annually on maintenance and support contracts for their Computer System, including any necessary upgrades.
