What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Gold Star's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Gold Star has the right to modify or discontinue the use of any of its marks. If Gold Star deems it advisable, in its sole discretion, for both the company and the franchisee to modify or discontinue using any of the marks, or to use additional or substitute marks, names, logos, or indicia, the franchisee must comply.

This means that Gold Star franchisees may be required to update signage, marketing materials, or other branded items at their own expense to reflect any changes to the Gold Star marks. The franchisee is expected to make these changes within a reasonable timeframe after receiving written instructions from Gold Star.

This clause protects Gold Star's ability to update its brand and marketing strategies as needed. While franchisees bear the cost of these changes, it also ensures that all locations maintain a consistent and up-to-date brand image, which can benefit the entire franchise system. Franchisees should factor in potential rebranding costs when evaluating the franchise opportunity.
