What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Gold Star's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must notify Gold Star in writing before changing the designated manager of their store. The franchisee is then required to comply with the stipulations in Section 2 of the franchise agreement regarding any training the replacement manager must complete.
Section 2.1 states that if a manager trainee ceases to be employed by the franchisee, the franchisee must, at Gold Star's option, ensure another manager trainee attends and successfully completes Gold Star's initial training program. This ensures the franchisee always meets the trainee requirements outlined in Section 2.1.
According to Section 2.2, the franchisee bears the expense of initial training for replacement trainees. Gold Star provides initial training for one additional person designated as a manager without charging a fee if the franchisee is only required to have one trainee. However, initial training for any additional persons is provided only if the franchisee pays the standard fee charged to other Gold Star franchisees for such additional enrollment.
