What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Gold Star's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must obtain, display, and maintain a package of signs that conform to Gold Star's requirements. These signs should describe the premises as "Gold Star Chili" and include any other signs that Gold Star may require in the manual or in writing. Franchisees are not allowed to display any signs at the retail location, either interior or exterior, that have not been approved by Gold Star in the manual or in writing.
However, the standard signage requirements can be modified with Gold Star's approval if local legal restrictions necessitate a change. This means that if a local ordinance or law prevents a franchisee from using the standard Gold Star signage, they can request a modification from Gold Star to comply with the local regulations.
This flexibility is important for prospective franchisees because it acknowledges that local laws can vary and may impact the ability to use standard signage. Franchisees should be aware of local signage regulations in their area and be prepared to work with Gold Star to find an acceptable solution if modifications are needed. It is also important to note that any modifications must be approved by Gold Star, ensuring that the brand image remains consistent as much as possible while adhering to local laws.
