FRANCHISEE shall obtain, display and maintain, at FRANCHISEE's expense, a package of signs conforming to the COMPANY's requirements (except to the extent modified with the approval of the COMPANY due to local legal restrictions), at, on or near the front of the Retail Location, describing the premises only as "Gold Star Chili" and such other signs, if any, as the COMPANY may require in the Manual or otherwise in writing.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Gold Star's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must adhere to specific signage requirements. The signage at or near the front of the retail location must describe the premises only as "Gold Star Chili."

Beyond this required wording, franchisees can only display signs that Gold Star has approved in the manual or in writing. This ensures brand consistency across all franchise locations. Franchisees are responsible for the costs of obtaining, displaying, and maintaining these signs.

This requirement helps maintain a consistent brand image and prevents unauthorized or non-compliant signage that could dilute the brand or confuse customers. Franchisees need to factor in the cost of approved signage packages when budgeting for their initial investment and ongoing expenses.
