What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Gold Star's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must obtain, display, and maintain signage that conforms to Gold Star's requirements. The primary signage must describe the premises as "Gold Star Chili." Franchisees must get approval from Gold Star for any other signs they want to display at the retail location, whether inside or outside.

However, there is an exception: modifications to signage are allowed if approved by Gold Star due to local legal restrictions. This means that if local laws prevent a franchisee from using the standard signage, Gold Star may approve a modified version.

In practice, this means a prospective Gold Star franchisee needs to be aware of local signage regulations and how they might impact the standard Gold Star signage. Any deviations from the standard signage must be pre-approved in writing by Gold Star. This ensures brand consistency while allowing for necessary adjustments to comply with local laws.
