What This Means (2025 FDD)

Based on the 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, it is not clear whether Gold Star requires franchisees to complete a certification quiz. While the document discusses training requirements for replacement managers, compliance with laws and standards, and the importance of maintaining uniform operating standards, it does not specifically mention a certification quiz.

However, the FDD does state that franchisees must obtain all permits and certifications required for the lawful construction and operation of the store. It also states that the franchisee must comply with all federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations. These stipulations suggest that certain certifications may be necessary to operate a Gold Star franchise, depending on the location and applicable laws.

To clarify whether a certification quiz is required, prospective franchisees should ask Gold Star directly about any mandatory certification programs or assessments for franchisees or managers. This inquiry should also extend to any location-specific certifications or permits needed to comply with local regulations.
