What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Gold Star's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the number of restaurants in the top 25% tier varies depending on whether the restaurant is a traditional outlet or a G5 outlet. For franchised traditional outlets, the top 25% tier includes 12 stores. For franchised G5 outlets, the top 25% includes 10 stores.
The FDD provides a breakdown of gross sales performance for both types of Gold Star franchise locations. This data is based on sales reports from franchisees, which are not audited or verified. The traditional outlets are defined as noncompany-owned stores that are free standing or on an end cap of a strip center and have a drive thru. G5 outlets are franchised traditional outlets that have implemented the current published design standards of facility modifications and menu.
The distinction between traditional and G5 outlets is important for prospective franchisees. All new Gold Star restaurants are now required to be G5 outlets, which include updated building signage, awnings, paint colors, drive-thru equipment, furniture, cabinetry, and graphics, as well as the updated menu. The annualized sales data for G5 outlets is a subset of the data for all franchised traditional outlets. Reviewing both tables allows potential franchisees to understand the sales performance of different outlet types within the Gold Star system.
