What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Gold Star's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Gold Star will provide franchisees with a list of approved vendors. Specifically, Gold Star will provide a list of approved sources for architectural services, supplies, equipment, furniture, advertising and marketing materials, computer software and hardware, and other items necessary for the operation of the store. This list is provided at no cost to the franchisee.

This means that as a Gold Star franchisee, you are not entirely free to choose your own vendors. Instead, you must select from a list of approved vendors provided by Gold Star. This is a common practice in franchising, as it allows the franchisor to maintain quality control and consistency across all locations.

While this limits the franchisee's autonomy, it also offers the benefit of pre-vetted suppliers. This can save time and effort in sourcing reliable vendors and potentially provide access to better pricing or service due to the franchisor's negotiated rates. Franchisees should inquire about the process for vendor approval and whether there is any flexibility in using alternative vendors if the approved ones do not meet their needs.
