Electronic Point-of-Sale Cash Registers or Computer Systems.
Gold Star requires you to obtain and use a point-of-sale cash register system (the "POS System") that meets Gold Star's standards and specifications and that reports sales receipts to Gold Star on a daily basis. The principal functions of the POS System include the following: (a) drive
through order storage and recall, (b) timekeeping with sales versus labor percent usage, (c) case usage by count of all major food products, (d) menu screen, (e) groupings and subgroups, (f) remote printer, (g) video monitors, (h) menu mix and (i) credit card processing.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Gold Star's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the POS system franchisees are required to use must meet specific standards and report sales receipts daily to Gold Star. The POS system's functions include drive-through order storage and recall, timekeeping with sales versus labor percent usage, and case usage by count of all major food products.
Additionally, the POS system must have a menu screen, groupings and subgroups, a remote printer, and video monitors. It also needs to handle menu mix analysis and credit card processing. A high-speed internet connection is necessary for credit card transactions, data polling, and overall system functionality.
Prospective Gold Star franchisees should note that they may need to upgrade or update the POS system at any time upon Gold Star's request to comply with their standards. Gold Star also has independent access to all information and data collected through the POS system. Franchisees are also responsible for monthly fees ranging from $886 to $1,291 for the sublease of the POS system and technology maintenance.
