What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Gold Star's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must adhere to the standards, operating procedures, and rules prescribed by Gold Star for the development and operation of their store. These standards include, but are not limited to, specifications regarding ingredients, methods of food preparation and service, and the weight, quality, and dimensions of menu items and other products served.
This means that a Gold Star franchisee is obligated to follow the System Standards set by Gold Star, which are periodically modified and supplemented at Gold Star's discretion. These standards are communicated in the Manual or in writing and are considered provisions of the Franchise Agreement. Franchisees must operate their business in a way that preserves and builds the goodwill of all Gold Star restaurants and the company itself, without deviating from these System Standards.
In practice, this requirement ensures uniformity across all Gold Star locations, maintaining consistent quality, service, and customer satisfaction. It also protects the brand's reputation and goodwill. A prospective franchisee should carefully review the Manual and any written communications from Gold Star to fully understand these standards and their obligations.
