What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Gold Star's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees must acknowledge that every detail of the Gold Star system is important, not only to them but also to Gold Star and other franchisees. This is to maintain uniform operating standards, increase demand for products and services, establish a reputation for quality, service, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction, and protect the goodwill of all Gold Star franchises.

Gold Star franchisees must adhere to the uniform specifications, standards, operating procedures, and rules prescribed by Gold Star for the development and operation of their store. This includes standards and specifications for ingredients, food preparation, service methods, and the weight, quality, and dimensions of menu items. Franchisees are required to operate their business in a manner that preserves and builds the goodwill of all Gold Star restaurants and of Gold Star itself.

In practical terms, this means a Gold Star franchisee cannot deviate from the System Standards during the term of their agreement. These standards are periodically modified and supplemented by Gold Star and communicated in writing to the franchisee. These standards become provisions of the Franchise Agreement as if fully set forth in the agreement. This ensures consistency across all Gold Star locations, which is intended to benefit all franchisees by maintaining brand reputation and customer expectations.
