What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Gold Star's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the requirements for approved signage can be found in two places: the company's manual and in writing from Gold Star. The franchisee is responsible for obtaining, displaying, and maintaining a package of signs that meet Gold Star's requirements at their own expense. These signs should be located at, on, or near the front of the retail location and describe the premises as "Gold Star Chili."
Gold Star also has the right to require additional signs. Franchisees are prohibited from displaying any signs, either inside or outside the retail location, that have not been approved by Gold Star in the manual or in writing. This ensures that all signage is consistent with the brand's image and standards.
This requirement is typical in franchising, as it allows the franchisor to maintain brand consistency across all locations. A prospective franchisee should carefully review the Gold Star manual and any written communications from the company to understand the specific requirements for signage to avoid any potential compliance issues or additional expenses.
