What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Gold Star Franchise Disclosure Document, a franchisee must open their Gold Star restaurant within twelve months of the retail location's approval. Failure to do so constitutes a default of the Franchise Agreement.

Gold Star will provide written notice of default, and the franchisee has 10 days to remedy the default. If the default is not resolved satisfactorily within that timeframe, Gold Star has the option to terminate the Franchise Agreement.

This requirement underscores the importance of efficient site selection, build-out, and preparation. Prospective franchisees should carefully consider the time needed for these steps to ensure they can meet the 12-month deadline and avoid potential penalties, including termination of their franchise agreement.
