What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Gold Star's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, when a franchisee spends more than $50,000 remodeling their restaurant, Gold Star may provide advertising and support for the re-opening. Currently, Gold Star spends $10,000 of Brand Building Fees on advertising and support for the franchisee's grand re-opening.
However, the franchisee is responsible for contributing $5,000 towards the grand re-opening marketing and promotion. This contribution is invoiced to the franchisee.
It's important to note that neither Gold Star nor the Gold Star Chili Advertising Association (GSCAA) is obligated to continue this practice. This means that the availability and amount of support for remodeled restaurants can change at Gold Star's discretion. A prospective franchisee should confirm the current support policies with Gold Star before making any remodeling plans.
