In addition to the sublease, franchisees must pay a monthly maintenance and technology fee, ranging from $886 to $1,291, to approved suppliers or directly to Gold Star. This fee covers technology support and maintenance for the POS system, as well as software and platforms used for training, scheduling, credit card backup, and online ordering.

Furthermore, Gold Star franchisees must subscribe to applications and web services as directed in the Manual and download Gold Star's preferred licensed application for communication. Franchisees are responsible for all subscription fees and the costs of hardware needed to use these applications, including purchasing and maintaining a functioning iPad at their retail location.
