What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Gold Star's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, Gold Star has the authority to modify purchasing specifications during the term of the Franchise Agreement. This means that Gold Star can alter the required brands, models, characteristics, or sources for products and services that franchisees must purchase.
This ability allows Gold Star to maintain quality and consistency across all franchise locations by adapting to new products, suppliers, or industry standards. For a prospective franchisee, this implies that the products and suppliers they are initially approved to use may change over time. Franchisees must remain flexible and adaptable to these changes to comply with Gold Star's requirements.
Gold Star communicates these changes through various channels, including bulletins, catalogs, the intranet, and the Manual. Franchisees are responsible for staying informed about any revisions, deletions, or additions to the standards, specifications, and approved supplier lists. After receiving notice of a modification, franchisees cannot reorder any item or order from any supplier that is no longer approved.
While Gold Star reserves the right to make these changes, franchisees also have the option to request approval of alternative suppliers or items not currently on Gold Star's approved list. However, Gold Star is not obligated to approve any particular supplier or item and does not make its criteria for supplier approval available to franchisees.
