What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Gold Star's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, in addition to architectural services, supplies, equipment, furniture, advertising and marketing materials, computer software, and hardware, Gold Star will provide a list of approved sources for other items necessary for the operation of the store. This means franchisees are required to purchase these items from Gold Star's approved vendors.
Having a list of approved vendors helps to maintain consistency and quality across all Gold Star locations. This ensures that each franchise location meets the brand's standards for operation.
While this benefits the brand, it may limit a franchisee's ability to find potentially cheaper or more convenient suppliers. However, franchisees can request approval for alternative suppliers, though Gold Star has the right to inspect the source's facilities and test samples, with the franchisee bearing the costs of inspection and evaluation. Gold Star is not required to approve any particular supplier or item and may revoke approval of any source or item that does not continue to meet the company's criteria.
