What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Floyds 99's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Local Advertising Allocation, which ranges from 1% to 2% of Gross Sales, is retained by the franchisee to advertise their Barbershop. This allocation is in addition to the National Marketing Contribution, but the combination of both contributions will not exceed 4% of Gross Sales.
The FDD specifies that the franchisee must spend this allocation each calendar quarter and submit a report of expenditures as part of their required financial reporting to Floyds 99. The funds must be focused on promoting the franchisee's shop to consumers, and explicitly excludes spending on sites like Indeed or Craigslist for recruitment or other non-advertising purposes.
If Floyds 99 establishes a Regional Advertising Co-op that includes the franchisee's Barbershop, the Local Advertising Allocation may be reallocated to the co-op. This means that the franchisee may lose control over how those specific advertising dollars are spent, as the decisions would then be made by the majority of the co-op members, subject to Floyds 99's approval. This is a fairly common practice in franchising, where regional advertising can benefit multiple locations, but it's important for franchisees to understand how much control they will retain over their advertising budget.
