What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to the 2024 Extreme Art Studio Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees have some limited ability to share confidential information with their employees. Specifically, franchisees can disclose the contents of the Franchise Operations Manual to teachers or employees of the Franchised Business who need to know its contents. However, this is a limited exception.
The FDD states that the franchisee must ensure employees sign a confidentiality agreement. This agreement ensures that employees understand that protecting Extreme Art Studio's intellectual property is vital to the success of the franchise system. The agreement also stipulates that employees will not use the intellectual property in any way detrimental to Extreme Art Studio or the franchisee.
Employees are prohibited from making unauthorized copies of documents containing intellectual property and must take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorized use or disclosure of this information. These obligations continue as long as the individual is associated with the Extreme Art Studio business. The confidentiality agreement also defines what constitutes confidential information, including training materials, system standards, marketing strategies, and customer information.
Overall, while Extreme Art Studio permits franchisees to share some confidential information with employees, it is strictly limited to those who need to know it for their job duties. Franchisees must ensure employees are bound by confidentiality agreements to protect Extreme Art Studio's intellectual property and maintain the integrity of the franchise system.
