What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to the 2024 Extreme Art Studio Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are not allowed to create or issue their own gift cards or certificates. They are only permitted to sell gift cards or certificates that have been issued or sponsored by Extreme Art Studio. Additionally, franchisees cannot issue coupons or discounts unless they have received approval from Extreme Art Studio. This policy ensures brand consistency and control over promotional activities across all franchise locations.
This restriction is fairly common in franchising, as franchisors typically want to maintain uniform marketing and promotional strategies. By centralizing the issuance of gift cards and controlling discounts, Extreme Art Studio can manage its brand image and ensure that promotions are aligned with the overall marketing plan. This also allows Extreme Art Studio to track liabilities associated with outstanding gift cards and manage revenue recognition effectively.
For a prospective Extreme Art Studio franchisee, this means they must adhere to the gift card and promotional programs established by the franchisor. They cannot independently create their own offers to attract customers without prior approval. While this might limit a franchisee's flexibility in local marketing, it also provides a structured framework and ensures that all promotional activities are consistent with the brand's standards. Franchisees should factor this into their marketing strategies and budget, focusing on utilizing the approved promotional materials and programs provided by Extreme Art Studio.
