What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Dryject's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the transfer fee is due before the transfer is effective. The amount of the transfer fee is 40% of the then-current Initial Franchise Fee. If a Dryject franchisee buys the franchise as an individual and wants to transfer it to a newly formed business entity which they control, Dryject charges $500 to cover their expenses related to the transfer, assuming Dryject approves the transfer. This fee is also due before the transfer is effected.
It is important to note that there are other conditions for approval of transfers, which a prospective franchisee should investigate further. Additionally, if a Dryject franchisee pursues but does not complete a transfer, and this causes Dryject to incur costs and expenses in reviewing and documenting the proposed transfer, the franchisee must reimburse Dryject for these costs and expenses.
In the franchise industry, transfer fees are common when a franchisee sells their business to a new owner. The fees are intended to compensate the franchisor for their time and expenses in reviewing and approving the transfer, as well as for updating the franchise agreement and providing training to the new owner. The Dryject FDD clearly states when the transfer fee is due, so a franchisee knows when they will need to pay it.
