As a Dryject franchisee, am I considered an independent contractor?

According to Dryject's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the franchise agreement specifies that franchisees are considered independent contractors. This designation means that as a Dryject franchisee, you are responsible for the day-to-day management, operations, and financial control of your franchised business. You are also responsible for your employees and how you treat them.

Being classified as an independent contractor has several implications. Dryject will not be responsible for your business's debts or legal liabilities. You will also be responsible for paying your own self-employment taxes, and you will not be eligible for benefits typically provided to employees, such as health insurance or paid time off. You will have greater autonomy in running your business but also bear more responsibility for its success and compliance with regulations.

However, Dryject retains certain controls, such as the right to establish and utilize an online computer monitoring system to examine your business records remotely. Additionally, you are restricted from establishing your own website using domain names containing "DryJect" or variations thereof, as Dryject retains sole control over internet activity and websites using those names. This highlights that while you are an independent contractor, Dryject maintains significant oversight and control over certain aspects of the business and brand representation.
