What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Dollar Rent A Car Franchise Disclosure Document, Dollar Rent A Car has the authority to modify, replace, or institute new operating programs. Franchisees are required to subscribe to, fully participate in, and comply with all operating programs, customer satisfaction programs, account programs, coupon programs, marketing and sales programs, experimental or test programs, and other programs that Dollar Rent A Car may prescribe. These programs are detailed in the Operations Guide or in writing.
The programs may include one-way rental programs, frequent renter, loyalty, and/or rewards programs, Corporate Rate Programs, and programs involving Car Sales, Vehicle Leasing, or Car Self-Service/Sharing Businesses. Dollar Rent A Car can modify, replace, or institute these programs from time to time. These programs may also involve Vehicle Rental Businesses owned, operated, franchised, or licensed by Dollar Rent A Car's affiliates, even those with different trademarks that may compete with the franchisee's business.
Franchisees must fully participate in, support, and service these programs and incur the associated expenses, as required by Dollar Rent A Car, regardless of whether all other franchisees are required to do so. If all franchisees are required to participate, the expenses will be on the same basis for everyone. Franchisees may be required to enter into participation agreements with terms and conditions determined by Dollar Rent A Car to evidence their participation in such programs. This means a franchisee must adapt to changes in Dollar Rent A Car's operating procedures and programs, even if it requires additional expenses or participation in programs that compete with their own business.
