12.20. Computers and Data Transmission. You are required, at Your expense, to purchase or lease, and thereafter use and maintain, such computer system hardware, software, required
dedicated telephone and power lines, modems, printer(s), other computer-related accessories or peripheral equipment, and systems and devices to monitor vehicle telematics, geolocation, and/or other information (which you may be required to install in every Vehicle utilized in Your Franchised Business), in each case as We specify in the Operations Guide or otherwise in writing (collectively, the "Computer System"). Your Computer System shall have the capacity to electronically exchange information, messages, and other data with other computers, by such means (including but not limited to the Internet), and using such protocols (e.g., TCP/IP), as We may reasonably prescribe in the Operations Guide or otherwise in writing. We shall have the right from time to time, and at any time, to retrieve data and information from Your Computer System, by modem or other requested means, and use it for any reasonable business purpose both during and after the term of this Agreement. We may, from time to time, specify in the Operations Guide or otherwise in writing the information that You shall collect and maintain on the Computer System installed at Your Franchised Business (including rental transactions, Vehicles, reservations, customer profiles and other pertinent information relating thereto), and You shall provide to Us such reports as We may reasonably request from the data so collected and maintained. The information so obtained by Us shall be in addition to and not in lieu of the reporting requirements set forth in Section 14 hereof. In accordance with Section 12.19 above, We reserve the right to require You to acquire the Computer System (and each part of the Computer System) from an approved supplier as We may from time to time prescribe in the Operations Guide or otherwise in writing. We may designate Ourselves or an Affiliate as an approved supplier (and may be the sole approved supplier) for the Computer System (or any part of the Computer System). You shall keep the Computer System in good maintenance and repair and, at Your expense, shall promptly install such additions, changes, modifications, substitutions, and/or replacements to the Computer System, as We direct.

What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Dollar Rent A Car Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to purchase or lease and maintain a Computer System. This system includes hardware, software, dedicated telephone and power lines, modems, printers, and other accessories, as specified in the Operations Guide or in writing by Dollar Rent A Car. The franchisee bears the expense of this system.
The Computer System must be capable of electronically exchanging information, messages, and data with other computers. This exchange can occur through various means, including the Internet, using protocols such as TCP/IP, as prescribed by Dollar Rent A Car in the Operations Guide or in writing. Dollar Rent A Car has the right to retrieve data and information from the franchisee's Computer System via modem or other means for any reasonable business purpose during and after the franchise term.
Dollar Rent A Car may specify the information that franchisees must collect and maintain on their Computer Systems, including rental transactions, vehicle data, reservations, customer profiles, and other relevant information. Franchisees are required to provide reports based on this data as reasonably requested by Dollar Rent A Car. The data obtained by Dollar Rent A Car is in addition to the reporting requirements outlined in Section 14 of the Franchise Agreement. Dollar Rent A Car reserves the right to require franchisees to acquire the Computer System from an approved supplier, potentially including Dollar Rent A Car itself or an affiliate.
Franchisees are responsible for keeping the Computer System in good maintenance and repair. They must also promptly install any additions, changes, modifications, substitutions, or replacements to the system as directed by Dollar Rent A Car, all at their own expense. This ensures that the franchisee's system remains compatible with Dollar Rent A Car's requirements for data exchange and operational efficiency.
