According to Dollar Rent A Car's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, if you choose to employ a manager for your franchise, that manager must meet four specific requirements. First, you must disclose the identity of the manager to Dollar Rent A Car. Second, the manager must complete the required training program specified by Dollar Rent A Car. Third, the manager must possess sufficient experience in the vehicle rental business to effectively manage and operate your Dollar Rent A Car franchise. Finally, the manager must dedicate their full time to the management and operation of the franchise.
These requirements ensure that Dollar Rent A Car franchises are run by competent and well-trained individuals, even if the franchisee themselves does not directly manage the business. The stipulation that the manager devote full time to the business underscores the importance of active and dedicated leadership at the franchise level.
It is important to note that the manager is not required to have any equity interest in the Dollar Rent A Car franchise. However, the manager will be required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement, as detailed in Attachment H of the Franchise Agreement, to protect Dollar Rent A Car's proprietary information. This ensures that even though the manager is not an owner, they are legally bound to protect the brand's confidential information.
