Answer from 2025 FDD Document

If approved by us, you will have the right to sign a Franchise Agreement for the establishment and operation of a Franchised Business within the franchised territory designated in the Franchise Agreement (the "Territory"). Your Franchised Business will be located at a site, which may be at an airport or in a location near hotels, offices and highways, at a specified address (the "Location") within your Territory. The Franchise Agreement may also include a schedule describing additional Franchised Business locations that must be opened and in operation by specified dates. We also reserve the right to require you (by written notice) to open additional Franchised Businesses within your Territory to serve customer or market demand.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to Dollar Rent A Car's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the 'Location' refers to the specific site where the franchisee will operate their Dollar Rent A Car business. This site, as stated in the FDD, may be at an airport or in a location near hotels, offices, and highways, and it will be identified by a specified address within the franchisee's designated territory. The Franchise Agreement will outline the territory granted to the franchisee.

For a prospective Dollar Rent A Car franchisee, the location is a critical element of the franchise agreement. The agreement may include a schedule that describes additional franchised business locations that must be opened and in operation by specified dates. Dollar Rent A Car also retains the right to require the franchisee to open additional franchised businesses within their territory to meet customer or market demand. This means that franchisees may need to be prepared to expand their operations beyond the initial location.

The location of a Dollar Rent A Car franchise is not an exclusive territory. Dollar Rent A Car retains the right to use, or license others to use, the System and the Marks within and outside the franchisee's Territory in connection with the sale, rental, lease or other use of the same, similar or different products and services. If the Franchised Business is located at an airport or other major transportation facility, the franchisee will have to compete at the same facility with businesses offering the same or similar services, including Affiliate Branded Businesses.

Understanding the implications of the 'Location' definition is crucial for potential franchisees. It is important to carefully review the Franchise Agreement to understand the obligations and rights related to the location, including any requirements for opening additional locations and the competitive landscape within the designated territory. Franchisees should also consider the potential costs and challenges associated with operating in different types of locations, such as airports or high-traffic areas.
