Dollar_Rent_A_Car Franchise · 2025 FDD

Answer from 2025 FDD Document

We may require that our representatives be permitted to inspect the supplier's facilities and that samples from the supplier be delivered for testing, at our option, either to us or to an independent certified laboratory we designate.

You must pay a charge not to exceed the reasonable cost of any inspection conducted and the actual cost of any testing undertaken.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Dollar Rent A Car Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee desires to purchase or lease from an unapproved supplier, they must first submit a written request for approval. Dollar Rent A Car may then require inspections of the items and/or the supplier's facilities. Samples from the supplier may also be delivered for testing, either to Dollar Rent A Car or to an independent certified laboratory designated by them.

The franchisee is responsible for paying a charge for these inspections and tests. This charge will not exceed the reasonable cost of any evaluation and testing. Dollar Rent A Car will then notify the franchisee of their approval or disapproval within 90 days after receiving the request and completing the evaluation and testing, if required.

This process ensures that Dollar Rent A Car maintains its brand standards and quality control, even when franchisees seek to use alternative suppliers. The franchisee bears the financial responsibility for demonstrating that the unapproved supplier meets Dollar Rent A Car's standards. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, where franchisors need to protect their brand reputation but franchisees also want the flexibility to manage costs.
