What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Deka Lash's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to purchase more than just the Point-of-Sale (POS) software. Specifically, franchisees must purchase systems for their franchise locations, which include the POS system, electronic signing software, and other software subscriptions or licenses that Deka Lash requires.
This requirement means that franchisees need to budget for ongoing software expenses beyond the basic POS system. The franchisor has the discretion to specify these additional software requirements and can change them at any time, potentially leading to unexpected costs for the franchisee. Franchisees are also responsible for the costs associated with these changes.
Furthermore, Deka Lash specifies that franchisees must subscribe to and use Point-of-Sale, client management, scheduling, and other software systems. Franchisees must also have anti-virus, firewall, and spyware programs, as well as Microsoft Office software. This ensures that franchisees maintain the technology standards set by Deka Lash for efficient business operations and data security.
Failure to comply with these technology requirements or to report payments accurately through the POS system can result in financial penalties. For instance, failing to report cash or other payments through the Point-of-Sale account may result in a fine of $750 per occurrence. Therefore, it is crucial for prospective franchisees to understand and budget for these ongoing technology expenses and adhere to Deka Lash's specified systems and software.
