What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to Deer Solution's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, franchisees are required to purchase or lease system supplies from Deer Solution, its affiliates, or its designated suppliers. These system supplies are part of the source-restricted goods and services necessary for operating a Deer Solution franchise. Source-restricted goods and services must meet Deer Solution's specifications and be purchased from approved or designated suppliers, which may include Deer Solution itself or its affiliates as exclusive suppliers.
This requirement ensures that Deer Solution maintains consistent standards of quality, service, and system development across all franchise locations. The FDD specifies that approximately 80% of the initial investment and 40% of ongoing operating expenses will be related to purchases and leases from designated suppliers. Deer Solution may receive rebates, payments, or other benefits from these suppliers based on franchisee purchases, although the document states that Deer Solution did not earn any revenue from approved suppliers during the fiscal year ending December 31, 2024, based on franchisee purchases.
Deer Solution's affiliate, APS Innovates, LLC, is currently designated as an approved supplier of deer repellent, providing central purchasing and fulfillment services. Other affiliates, such as Two Knights Media, Inc. and VIP Rewards Center, LLC, have also been designated as approved suppliers for various services. During the fiscal year ending December 31, 2024, APS Innovates, LLC earned $43,481.73, Two Knights Media, Inc. earned $98,983.89, and VIP Rewards Center, LLC earned $9,621.22 in revenue from franchisee purchases.
If a franchisee wishes to use a supplier not already approved, they must submit a written request for approval, which may include a supplier review and testing fee, samples for testing, and facility inspections. Deer Solution has up to 60 days to notify the franchisee of its decision, and it may withhold approval at its discretion. Factors considered for approval include the supplier's ability to meet Deer Solution's standards, quality control, and whether the approval will advance the overall interests of the Deer Solution system.
