What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Deck Medic's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, initial training is required for the franchisee or, if the franchisee is a corporation, the Managing Owner. In addition to the franchisee or Managing Owner, one management-level employee or Owner must also attend and complete the initial training program. This training must be completed no less than 30 days before the Deck Medic business opens. If more than three individuals attend the initial training, Deck Medic will charge an additional fee for each extra person.

Deck Medic also offers initial training to replacement Operating Managers, which they must complete to Deck Medic's satisfaction. The franchisee is responsible for paying a supplemental training fee for each replacement Operating Manager; currently, this fee is $600 per manager per day.

After opening their Deck Medic business, franchisees (or their Managing Owner, if a corporation) may be required to attend a system-wide training program that Deck Medic may establish. Franchisees are responsible for all travel, lodging, food, car rental, and employee wage expenses related to this training. Deck Medic will not require attendance at a System-Wide Training Program for more than five days in any calendar year. Franchisees and their Operating Managers may also be required to participate in supplemental on-site training at Deck Medic's discretion. If a franchisee is not meeting Deck Medic's system performance standards, Deck Medic may provide supplemental on-site training within the franchisee's Operating Territory. The franchisee will be required to pay Deck Medic's then-current supplemental training fee, which is currently $600 per on-site trainer per day, plus travel, meals, and accommodation expenses.
