What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Deck Medic's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, if permitted by local law, a franchisee may operate their Deck Medic business from a home-based administrative office. However, if a franchisee elects to lease a back-end administrative office and/or operations center, the administrative office and/or operations center must be located within the franchisee's Operating Territory.

The FDD states that Deck Medic must approve the location of the administrative office and/or operations center. Within 30 days of written receipt and submission of all required information and documentation, Deck Medic will respond to the franchisee's request for approval or disapproval of the proposed location. Factors considered include the characteristics of the proposed site, whether the site meets the criteria for non-retail back-office operations, and the location of the proposed site relative to the franchisee's Operating Territory and proximity to other franchisee operating territories.

The FDD also notes that there is no required time period within which a franchisee must secure a commercial office location, as a franchisee may manage their Deck Medic business from their home. However, if the site selection requirements are not met, Deck Medic may terminate the Franchise Agreement without refunding any fees to the franchisee. It is the franchisee's obligation to consult with government agencies, architects, and legal professionals to ensure that the site permits the establishment and operation of the franchised business and that the franchisee possesses the necessary licenses and authority to operate the franchised business.
