What This Means (2024 FDD)
Based on the 2024 Deck Medic Franchise Disclosure Document, the term 'alternative channels of distribution' is not explicitly defined. However, the FDD does define 'Digital Media' and 'Direct Solicitation,' which are related to marketing and customer communication. Digital Media includes a wide array of online platforms such as websites, web-based applications, distributed databases including blockchain, software applications, smartphone applications, and social media platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, SnapChat, TikTok, and YouTube. Direct Solicitation includes communications through in-person contact, telephone, mail, electronic mail, direct mail, distributed print media, Digital Media, Marketing Media, media distribution and/or marketing directed toward customers, potential customers or referral sources of the Franchised Business.
Given these definitions, it can be inferred that Deck Medic franchisees utilize various digital and direct methods to reach customers. The FDD emphasizes that franchisees must direct their marketing efforts towards their designated operating territory, and any marketing outside this territory requires written authorization from the franchisor. This suggests that Deck Medic closely monitors and controls how franchisees market their services to avoid overlap or competition between different franchise locations.
Prospective Deck Medic franchisees should seek clarification from the franchisor regarding what specific channels of distribution are permitted or encouraged, and whether there are any restrictions or guidelines beyond those mentioned in the FDD. Understanding the approved marketing channels and territorial limitations is crucial for developing an effective marketing strategy and ensuring compliance with the franchise agreement.
